This Mexican Star Beat Sabrina Carpenter for the Top Spot on TikTok’s Top Global Artists List

TikTok’s 2024 global music rankings highlight a significant shift in the industry, with Latine artists taking prominent spots among the platform’s biggest names. Mexican reggaetón artist Yeri Mua emerged as the year’s top global artist, surpassing international stars like Sabrina Carpenter and popular K-pop acts including ENHYPEN, Stray Kids, and aespa.

Yeri Mua’s rise from influencer to a leading voice in reggaetón mexa solidifies her position as a cultural force. Her breakthrough hit, “Linea Del Perreo,” was a viral sensation, featured in over two million TikTok videos. With 25.4 million followers, she claimed the No. 1 spot on TikTok’s Global Top 10 Artists list. Earlier this year, Yeri was named Best New Artist at the 2024 TikTok Awards. Reflecting on her success, she acknowledged her fans and the platform’s impact, saying, “TikTok has amplified my music and my message of self-empowerment. This win is not just for me but for reggaetón mexa, for Mexico, and for women everywhere.”

Other Latine artists made their mark across TikTok’s global and U.S. charts. Mexican singer Kim Loaiza secured the No. 8 spot on the global artists list, while Dominican-American rapper Ice Spice climbed to No. 2 on TikTok’s U.S. Top 10 Artists list. Known for her viral tracks, Ice Spice released her debut album Y2K in July, solidifying her influence on the platform. KATSEYE, featuring Cuban-American singer Daniela, ranked No. 8 in the U.S., showcasing the diversity of Latine representation.

Latine artists also dominated TikTok’s songs charts. Chilean reggaetón stars FloyyMenor and Cris MJ topped the Global Top 10 Songs list with their track “Gata Only,” which inspired over 50 million video creations. Their collaboration also placed at No. 10 on the U.S. charts. FloyyMenor expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the global reach of Chilean music.

Brazilian drag pop star Pabllo Vittar claimed the No. 3 spot globally with her collaboration “Alibi,” while corridos artist Xavi ranked at No. 6 with his hit “La Diabla.” Their presence underscores the growing influence of Latine genres on global audiences.

TikTok’s 2024 rankings not only highlight Yeri Mua’s groundbreaking success but also reflect the increasing global resonance of Latine music, with artists redefining boundaries and shaping the future of popular culture.
