Nikki Sixx Confirms Mötley Crüe Is Creating Fresh Tracks
Nikki Sixx has confirmed that Mötley Crüe is back in the studio, crafting new tunes.
The founding bassist of the renowned hair metal group shared a photo of himself, drummer Tommy Lee, and new guitarist John 5 during a songwriting session. Sixx also revealed they were collaborating with producer Barry Pointer.
On Thursday night (April 13), Sixx posted the photo, followed by more updates on Friday (April 14). The ‘Too Fast For Love’ composer disclosed that the band plans to “record a few off the floor” next week. Sixx confirmed on Twitter that Crüe is writing new music, despite the contentious departure of co-founder Mick Mars. “The creative process of songwriting has always been the heartbeat of our band,” Sixx said.
He added that they would be entering a larger studio next week to record some tracks and “see where it goes.” However, he emphasized that there is no definitive plan at this time, and they are simply allowing the songs to guide them. Mötley Crüe is about to embark on a European tour with Def Leppard, though it remains uncertain whether they will debut any new material live. Sixx also recently confirmed his collaboration with Dolly Parton on a rock album.
This year, the band has primarily made headlines due to a legal battle with Mars, a founding member alongside Sixx, Lee, and Vince Neil. Mars discussed his lawsuit against the other members regarding his share of profits in an interview with Variety. In response, the band’s litigation lawyer, Sasha Frid, expressed that Mick’s lawsuit is “unfortunate and completely off-base” and that the band feels empathy for Mick, wishing him well.
