Dave Grohl Joins the Brat Summer Craze with Charli XCX’s Viral ‘Apple’ Dance
After performing for almost three hours in a packed baseball stadium, how does Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl unwind? By jumping on the viral dance trend for Charli XCX‘s song “Apple.” Recently, Grohl joined celebrities like Joe Jonas, Stephen Colbert, and Glen Powell in doing the popular dance. The video, shared by Grohl’s daughter Harper, features the Foo Fighters singer and guitarist giving his best shot at the “Apple” dance.
In the clip, Grohl is seated at the kitchen table while Harper stands behind him. He stays focused as he mimics the hand gestures, smiling widely as he forms apple shapes with his fingers.
As Charli XCX sings, “I split the apple down symmetrical lines/ And what I find is kinda scary/ Make me just wanna drive,” Grohl laughs heartily, while Harper nails the choreography over his shoulder. Originally created by TikTok user Kelley Hayer, the dance has been recreated countless times by fans and Charli XCX herself.
This video is another part of what’s turning into a full-on Brat Summer. The movement even caught the attention of Vice President Kamala Harris, who adopted the Brat Arial font and lime green palette for her campaign after Charli declared “Kamala IS brat.”
Following performances at the Great American Ball Park and in Minneapolis, the Foo Fighters are heading to Denver’s Empower Field at Mile High on Saturday (August 3).
