HAIM Releases Emotional New Single “Everybody’s Trying to Figure Me Out”
Favourite sister trio HAIM dropped their reflective single “Everybody’s Trying to Figure Me Out.” The single is the successful continuation of their last release, “Relationships.”
Danielle Haim discussed the song’s inspiration at length. Through a heartfelt message, she outlined how the composition of the song helped her overcome some tough times. The idea for the song was conceived when Danielle experienced a panic attack upon returning home from an intense tour. Though she enjoyed performing and interacting with people, she felt overwhelmed by loneliness and introspection.
I started writing this after I had a panic attack the night that I got back from tour,” Danielle explained. “I was so confused because I was SO SO SO happy with our wonderful tour, but for some reason being alone with myself freaked the shit out of me.” After much consideration, I understood I’ve allowed a lot of individuals to attempt to inform me the way I need to live my life. I lost myself while trying to make everyone else happy.
The song was a way of taking back Danielle’s identity and removing other people’s expectations. She described it as an anthem for believing in oneself and confronting fear to do what one desires. “I wrote this as a way to believe in myself again and quit being scared to do what I want. I hope this finds anyone who needs it,” she went on.
“Everybody’s Trying to Figure Me Out” chronicles Danielle’s journey and universalizes for listeners everywhere grappling with the same problems. The band hopes that the song will be a solace and empowering anthem for fans heading into the summer months.
