Cakeswagg Admits She Kept Changing The Chorus Of “Big Plays”
Boston’s game-changing Hip Hop artist and songwriter, Cakeswagg, keeps shining through with her recent release “Big Plays.” The awesome banger comes with an accompanying music video, inspired by the infamous Jazz Age. Transporting the audience back to the roaring twenties, the rapper says: “My team and I decided to really delve into the 1920’s. Just as the 1920’s was the birth of a new era in music, fashion, resilience and clearly defiance of rules that need to be broken, so are my plans for 2023.”
Cakeswagg admits: “The intent behind this track is to kick off 2023 and prepare for everything that this year has to bring. As an artist, it’s super easy to become complacent, especially when you’re achieving your goals. But ‘“Big Plays” is a reminder that the work is never really finished and that although it’s important to stop and smell the roses it’s important to keep going and keep working on getting better and better.”
She also reveals: “One of the challenges I faced while creating “Big Plays” was making sure I could make a catchy chorus. Sometimes as a rapper we get caught up in just the lyrics and wanting to rap forgetting to leave catchy hooks for people to catch onto and remember first. So I kept re-working the chorus until I felt like it had lines that people could use as “quotables” for things like social media captions and more.”
Cakeswagg has accomplished her mission and dropped lyrics that people can rap along to, “It’s still big cake I get it f*cking baking/ This ain’t no pop smoke but still f*cking shaking/ And you prolly won’t last if you hesitating/ Cuz don’t nobody hold the crown so that shits for the taking/ My b*tches choosey, we get boujee on you f*cking goofy/ Sorry Pooky , he a groupie , I ain’t pop no coochie/ If you get crazy , I can promise , you gon lose a few things/ I’m still sturdy , do some proving if you wanna move me.”
Following “Big Plays,” Cakeswagg who finds inspiration in Missy Elliot, Queen Latifa, Remy Ma, and Nicki Minaj, hopes to share more music in the months to come.
