Carlie Hanson Releases Powerful Debut EP, ‘too late to cry’
Carlie Hanson, the alternative pop singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, has released her long-awaited debut EP, too late to cry, via Fearless Records. This 7-track project showcases her powerful journey of self-reflection, resilience, and creative independence, encapsulating the emotional depth she’s known for while also pushing boundaries sonically.
After parting ways with her first record label, Carlie found herself at a crossroads, but rather than giving in to frustration, she embraced her new independence. The EP’s themes of loss, self-empowerment, and growth reflect her transformative experiences.
“You can’t dwell on loss forever, you gotta keep moving forward, continue to grow, and move past the hurt,” Carlie shares about the inspiration behind the EP.
One of the standout tracks, “covering faces,” is an unapologetic anthem shedding toxic relationships, with Carlie saying it’s her “‘fck you, I never needed you anyway’*” moment.
The music video for “covering faces” was shot in Japan, a symbolic setting for her journey of self-discovery. Directed by Erik Rojas, the video contrasts melancholy moments with a hopeful connection, capturing the spirit of transformation.
With too late to cry, Carlie Hanson has taken full control of her artistry, delivering deeply personal yet empowering music that invites listeners to feel and grow with her.
