Chappell Roan Commends Miley Cyrus for Her Influence and Authenticity at 2024 Disney Legends Ceremony
Chappell Roan didn’t hold back in expressing her admiration for Miley Cyrus during a video shared on Monday. The day after Miley was honored at the Disney Legends Ceremony, Roan, known for her hit “Hot To Go,” praised Cyrus for her continuous reinvention and authenticity.
Roan highlighted how Miley’s ability to transform both artistically and personally is inspiring. “She’s always evolving, but it never feels forced. Miley stays true to herself, and her music reflects that authenticity,” Roan said in a video posted by Pop Crave.
Reflecting on her first concert experience—Miley’s 2007-2008 Best of Both Worlds tour featuring the Jonas Brothers—Roan shared how that performance left a lasting impact. “Seeing her come down from the ceiling in a box, I thought, ‘How can I do that one day?’ I still want to be like Hannah Montana,” Roan mused.
Roan believes there’s significant overlap between her career and Miley’s, and she admires the freedom Miley has in her artistic choices. “Miley can do anything, and it works. That’s the kind of freedom I aspire to.”
This year’s Legends ceremony, hosted by Ryan Seacrest, recognized Cyrus, 31, as the youngest inductee ever. The event also featured a special performance by Lainey Wilson, a superfan who started her career as a Hannah Montana impersonator, singing “The Best of Both Worlds.”
