From The Streets To The Global Stage: Måneskin Reveal The Secret Behind Their Worldwide Success
Italian Rock stars Damiano David, Victoria De Angelis, Thomas Raggi, and Ethan Torchio recently had an in-depth interview with Variety Italy and talked about how they came together to create Måneskin.
From performing in the streets of Rome to taking over the world, Måneskin’s surprising win at the Eurovision Song Contest, has created unimaginable opportunities for the group. David says: “At a certain point the narrative switched. It wasn’t ‘Why can’t we become something?’ It became, ‘Why not?’”
The young talents are living the dream, but at the same time feel like they’re missing out on the normal life. “With all this work, we hardly ever see our friends. So for us, being in Rome means recharging our batteries. It gives us a chance to go back to a normal life,” says 22-year-old Raggi.
When asked about the reason behind their fast-rising popularity, David comments: “Objectively, what were we missing? We know how to play our instruments. We know how to write songs. We’re lucky to be good-looking. What was there to stop us before, except for that provincial thought, ‘We’re not going to make it outside Italy’?”
Ethan Torchio adds: “I always had a feeling that we had the potential. I knew it was musically right for people around the world.”
Måneskin released their third studio album Rush! Last month. The record includes hits such as “Bla Bla Bla,” “Mammamia,” and “Supermodel.”
