Halsey Brings Three New Anniversary Editions of “BADLANDS”
Ten years ago, Halsey introduced the world to “BADLANDS.” The project was a vivid, dystopian dreamscape that doubled as a raw reflection of her inner world. Now, a decade later, she is honoring the album that launched her into stardom with three reimagined editions.
So, three editions will come out on August 29 via UMe/Astralwerks/Capitol Records. The anniversary celebration includes “BADLANDS: DECADE EDITION,” “BADLANDS – Live From Webster Hall,” and “BADLANDS: ANTHOLOGY,” a collector’s vinyl release. All editions are available for pre-order now.
Originally released on August 28, 2015, “BADLANDS” was more than a debut. It was a manifesto. The 11-track album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, building a cult-like following. Hence, the project explored themes of mental health, identity, and disillusionment. All of it wrapped in the metaphor of a fictional wasteland that mirrored Halsey’s own emotional terrain.
The stats speak for themselves. Since its release, BADLANDS has sold over 3 million units in the U.S. alone and collected more than 9 billion global streams. Every track has achieved gold, platinum, or multi-platinum certification from the RIAA. Singles like “Ghost,” “New Americana,” “Castle,” and “Colors” became generational anthems. Meanwhile, fan-favorite “Gasoline” alone has racked up over 300 million Spotify streams.
Halsey Recognizes the Legacy of “BADLANDS”
So, the new “ANTHOLOGY” vinyl is a treasure trove for longtime fans and newcomers alike. The triple-disc collection will include the original album, unreleased demos, official remixes, and rare vault tracks. Additionally, it will have a set of orchestral reinterpretations that promise a fresh emotional layer to the songs that started it all.
Meanwhile, “Live From Webster Hall” offers a full-circle moment. The editions is shot during Halsey’s 2019 performance at the iconic New York venue, the live album is now getting its first physical release. It captures the artist in her element, performing “BADLANDS” front to back with raw intensity and theatrical flair.
“I can’t believe it’s been 10 years,” Halsey shared in a statement. “So much has happened in the last decade, but BADLANDS remains the most exciting musical journey of my life.”
The reissue announcement follows the final dates of Halsey’s recent “FOR MY LAST TRICK” tour. The tour brought together an eclectic lineup: Evanescence, Alvvays, Alameda, Del Water Gap, and Magdalena Bay.
Whether you’re a day-one fan or diving into the record for the first time, this 10th anniversary rollout cements “BADLANDS.” It’s not just a debut, but a defining chapter in alt-pop history.
