Jen Majura Announces That She Is The Leaving Music Industry
Jen Majura, the electrifying guitarist who played with bands like Evanescence, Equilibrium, and Knorkator, has officially announced she’s stepping away from music. In a heartfelt Instagram post shared on Tuesday, June 10, the German-born musician offered fans a candid explanation for her decision. She spoke about burnout, societal shifts, and the growing impact of AI on the creative process.
“After careful consideration, observing what’s going on in the music industry, AI-related developments, and change in society, I’ve decided to step away,” Majura wrote. “Instead of wasting another year of my life constantly hoping for new energy, drive, and creativity, I’ve reached a point in my life where I can confidently lean back in peace.”
Thus, for those who’ve followed Majura’s journey, this announcement marks the end of a remarkable era. She joined Evanescence in 2015, stepping into the lead guitarist role previously held by Terry Balsamo. Her presence helped shape the band’s sonic evolution, contributing to Synthesis (2017) and The Bitter Truth (2021), both of which explored bolder and more experimental directions.
Evanescence publicly parted ways with Majura in May 2022. They called their time together “a very special chapter.” The band added, “We will always love her and support her… We are so grateful for the good times and great music we made all around the world together.”

Since then, Jen Majura has continued to push boundaries. She co-founded the crossover metal group How We End. She has also collaborated with former Dream Theater drummer Mike Mangini on his solo project “Invisible Signs.”
However, for Majura, the evolving landscape of the music industry has made it harder for her to connect with her purpose as a creator. “I just can’t identify with today’s attitude and values anymore,” she admitted in her announcement. “There are healthier and better things to fill my life with good vibes and not deal with the overwhelming amount of ridiculousness that comes with the music industry nowadays.”
Still, she’s not leaving without a proper send-off. As a final gift to fans, Majura dropped four previously unreleased tracks. The songs were written more than a decade ago with guitarist Dennis Hormes. “I found these old demo recordings while cleaning out stuff from my computer and thought they were too good not to be shared,” she explained.
Since launching her professional music career in 2000, Jen Majura has been a genre-bending force. She has been weaving together hard rock, symphonic metal, and industrial elements with finesse. Beyond her band work, she also built a respectable solo catalog. Meanwhile, she earned a reputation as one of the most technically skilled and emotionally resonant guitarists of her generation.
While she made it clear this isn’t necessarily a permanent goodbye.”I am not saying that I will never create any music again, whether recorded or live.” Majura’s message resonates like a mic drop: an artist choosing peace over pressure, reflection over routine.
