Kevin Morby Introduces New Soundtrack Album & Shares “Like a Flower” Music Video

American singer-songwriter and former member of Woods and The Babies, Kevin Morby, has dropped a new music video for “Like a Flower,” which comes off his latest soundtrack album Music From Montana Story, released via Dead Oceans.

The neo-Western feature, Montana Story, was written, produced, and directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel. The film tells the story of “two estranged siblings (Haley Lu Richardson, Owen Teague) who return home to the family ranch they once knew and loved, confronting deep and bitter secrets in the process. It’s a human-scaled story set against a mythic American backdrop—Montana’s Big Sky Country, sprawling with vast outdoor spaces and lonesome homes.”

Morby admits that scoring a film has been a life-long dream of his. “I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect film to do so,” says the artist. He continues: “Against wide open landscapes the film is patiently and masterfully captured and it was my job, alongside my collaborator Rob Barbato, to write a score with as much beauty and depth as the film itself. I’m so proud of how everything turned out and am forever grateful to directors Scott McGehee and David Siegel for bringing me on.”

Prior to Music From Montana Story, Kevin Morby had shared This Is a Photograph in May 2022. Last September he also released “Bittersweet, TN” with Nashville singer-songwriter Erin Rae.
