Lorde Releases A New Music Video for “Man of the Year”

Lorde is back in full force with the release of the official music video for “Man of the Year.” The track is the latest offering from her highly anticipated new album, Virgin. Directed by longtime collaborator Grant Singer. Thus, the visual brings a raw, cinematic lens to one of Lorde’s most personal tracks.

Lorde dropped the video alongside unveiling the full Virgin tracklist. It promises an ambitious new chapter for the New Zealand artist. Thus, she describes it as “an offering from really deep inside me,” which stands out as a centerpiece of the album. “It’s the song I’m proudest of on Virgin,” she shared in a recent social media post, a testament to its emotional weight and creative significance.

Virgin, co-produced by Lorde and genre-blending producer Jim-E Stack, marks a bold sonic shift. The album also features an eclectic lineup of collaborators, including Daniel Nigro (Olivia Rodrigo), Fabiana Palladino, Andrew Aged of Inc., etc. Lorde teased the project with the shimmering lead single “What Was That,” hinting at a more introspective and sonically rich direction.

Lorde and New Music Era

As Virgin inches closer to release, Lorde is gearing up for a global tour. Joining her on select dates is a stacked roster of openers, including Blood Orange, the Japanese House, and Nilüfer Yanya. Also, fans can find Chanel Beads, Empress Of, Oklou, and Jim-E Stack.

Though her last studio album, Solar Power, dropped in 2021, Lorde has stayed creatively engaged. She has rolled out striking visuals like “Oceanic Feeling” and “The Path.” Additionally, she has released the image of an EP of Solar Power tracks sung in te reo Māori. But Virgin already feels like a new era. One that’s bolder, darker, and unafraid to dive deep.

“Man of the Year” is more than just a standout single—it’s a statement. And if it’s any indication of what Virgin holds, fans are in for a layered, soul-baring experience. Watch the video below and check the full Virgin tracklist now.
