Morgan Wallen continues his journey of redemption after last year’s highly publicized incident on Broadway. The singer is cleaning up his act with a new sense of purpose. Yet, before fully turning a new page, he’s giving fans one last taste of his highly anticipated “I’m The Problem Tour.”

During a stop in Madison, Wisconsin, on June 28, Wallen brought out a surprise for the crowd. He invited the breakout country star Ella Langley to the stage. Langely joined him for a duet that quickly became the talk of the show

In a moment with fans buzzing, Langley stepped into the role of Tate McRae, Wallen’s original female duet partner on “What I Want.” Wallen’s collaboration with Langley was a hit, with social media lighting up as fans expressed their approval. Some even took to TikTok to voice their thoughts. “I still feel like we got robbed,” a fan suggested Langley’s version might have been a perfect fit for the song.

Although Langley was a last-minute substitution for McRae, the performance was undeniable. McRae’s vocals are on the track’s official release, marking a career first for Morgan Wallen with a female duet partner. The 21-year-old “Greedy” singer was a natural choice for the song. However, Wallen admitted that it was originally written without a female in mind. “I’m thinking about what song could I get Tate to sing,” Wallen recalled during an interview with Apple Music. “This is the one that we ended up sending to her. This is the only song that we ended up sending to her.”

So, as for Langley’s performance? Wallen was full of praise. “She was awesome, man,” he said. “The range that she has is something that’s truly remarkable, and you can tell it. She sang this song that’s written for a dude, and she absolutely crushed it. I can’t say enough great things about her.” It was a performance that showcased Langley’s immense talent. Thus, she cemented her place in the country music conversation.
