Queens of the Stone Age Cancel 2024 Tour as Josh Homme Focuses on Essential Medical Care
Queens of the Stone Age have announced the cancellation of their remaining 2024 tour dates to allow frontman Josh Homme to receive crucial medical treatment. This decision follows a previous announcement in July, when the band had to cancel some shows due to Homme needing emergency surgery.
In a statement released on August 23, the band expressed their regret over the situation:
“QOTSA regret to announce the cancellation and/or postponement of all remaining 2024 shows. Josh has been given no choice but to prioritize his health and receive essential medical care throughout the remainder of the year. Josh and the QOTSA family are so thankful for your support and the time we were able to spend together over the last year. Hope to see you all again in 2025.”
The canceled performances include headlining gigs in Boston, Cincinnati, Chicago, and Madison, Wisconsin, as well as major festivals such as Soundside Music Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Mempho Music Festival in Memphis, and Corona Capital Festival in Mexico City.
While the band has not disclosed the specifics of Homme’s health issues, it’s worth noting that he previously announced a battle with cancer in 2022. The cancellation marks a significant disruption to the band’s plans, but the focus remains on Homme’s recovery and well-being.
Fans who had been looking forward to the band’s 2024 appearances will have to wait until 2025 for the rescheduled dates.
