Hayley Williams of Paramore Pays Tribute to Beyoncé with “I Miss You”Cover in Houston
Paramore, led by Hayley Williams, made a notable stop in Houston, Texas, as part of their ongoing This Is Why Tour. Famed for its associations with NASA’s Johnson Space Center, the Rockets, and superstar Beyoncé, Houston was about to get another claim to fame when the band took to the stage on Tuesday, July 11.
As a tribute to one of Houston’s most significant figures, Hayley Williams presented an evocative rendition of Beyoncé’s “I Miss You.” The song, a fan-adored deep cut co-written with Frank Ocean, is from Beyoncé’s fourth solo studio album fittingly titled “4”.

Bathed in crimson stage lighting, Hayley sang poignant lines like “It hurts my pride to tell you how I feel, but I still need to/ Why is that,” while she and her band members stayed remarkably static. Halfway through the second verse, the chorus, and the song’s bridge, Williams switched to an a cappella performance. She then transitioned into “Crystal Clear” from her debut solo studio album, Petals for Armor.

This Is Why Tour is in support of Paramore’s sixth studio album bearing the same name. The tour started on a high note, with the album becoming their fourth consecutive Billboard 200 top 10 album, peaking at No. 2. It also topped the Top Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums charts. The tour, featuring opening acts like Bloc Party and The Linda Lindas, is set to conclude on August 2, after spanning North America, Europe, and South America.
Fans who were unable to attend the tour need not fret. Paramore is slated to return to the stage in 2024, as the main support act for 14 shows during the European leg of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. The announcement follows Williams‘ recent collaboration with Swift on “Castles Crumbling,” an unreleased track from Swift’s re-recorded album, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).
