Everything You Need to Know About Miley Cyrus’s New Album ‘Something Beautiful’

Miley Cyrus will release her ninth studio album, Something Beautiful, on May 30, 2025, through Columbia Records. With having recorded an enormous commercial hit with her 2023 album Endless Summer Vacation, the album is a definite departure from the rest of her work with experimental production, visual storytelling, and confident thematic ideas.

Described by Cyrus as “hypnotizing and glamorous,” the album is a concept album written around Pink Floyd‘s The Wall and the horror-surrealist film Mandy. She desires to explore destruction, heartbreak, and death but present them in a vision of beauty and recovery. Miley Cyrus stated that even the darkest corners of life have an allure to them, likening them to the shadows and contrasts that turn a painting whole.

Something Beautiful includes a musical film that will be released in June 2025. Miley Cyrus collaborated with director Panos Cosmatos and fashion photographer Glen Luchford to create dark visuals that complement the music. She is dressed in archival Thierry Mugler couture from 1997 on the album cover, which is the brazen look that pervades the project.

The album’s marketing began on March 31, 2025, with the release of two videos: “Prelude,” a cinematic spoken-word video, and the title track music video. Both were co-directed by Miley Cyrus alongside Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter.

The album has 13 tracks and was executive-produced by Shawn Everett, who has also worked on projects with Beyoncé and Hozier. Cyrus’s boyfriend Maxx Morando was also involved in the project, co-writing most of the songs, including the title track. The reason for their collaboration is that Cyrus prefers working with the people around her because she draws inspiration from them.
