Rammstein’s Till Lindemann Sues German Media for Misconduct Allegation Misreporting

Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann is taking legal steps against a German media outlet for their reports on sexual misconduct claims against him, which began surfacing last year. The saga started in May 2023 when Shelby Lynn, a fan from Northern Ireland, accused Lindemann of drugging her at a pre-concert gathering in Lithuania. Lynn described how she felt she had been prepared for sexual engagement with the singer after attending his concert. She alleged that her drink was tampered with at the event, although she was not sexually assaulted.

Lindemann has consistently refuted these claims, with his attorneys labeling them as entirely baseless.Despite the denials from Lindemann and Rammstein, the allegations had severe impacts, including Lindemann being severed ties with by his publisher, and triggering an inquiry by the Berlin public prosecutor’s office. This investigation concluded without charges in August 2023. At that time, the prosecutor’s office noted that the allegations highlighted in press reports were not corroborated by their investigation.

Lindemann later expressed his gratitude on social media to those who remained neutral throughout the ordeal. In August 2024, Rammstein issued a statement reflecting on the accusations: “We have been actively addressing the accusations against the band since last summer. We approach this conflict with utmost seriousness, even though much of it seems baseless and overly dramatized. It’s a personal journey that will continue to affect us. Each member of the band is handling it in their own way,” the statement detailed. The band also extended thanks to their families, crew, management, and supporters for standing by them during these challenging times.“Our recent stadium tour, featuring an impressive stage and show, concluded after 135 shows over five years, drawing 6 million fans,” they added.“It’s not Rammstein. It’s not us. It’s not you. The journey goes on.”Further escalating the issue, Lindemann filed a criminal complaint against executives at the German publication Der Spiegel. A press release from his legal team dated August 2 announced the complaint to the Hamburg Public Prosecutor’s Office, citing falsified documents and alleged attempts at trial fraud by Der Spiegel, as reported by LoudWire.
