Sabrina Carpenter’s new music video for “Taste” is causing quite a stir. Released on August 23, 2024, as part of her latest album Short N’ Sweet, the video features Carpenter and Jenna Ortega in a dramatic and provocative storyline. The former Disney Channel stars play rival lovers who repeatedly murder each other over a two-timing partner, only to reconcile with a passionate kiss.

The video, which can be watched above, pulls inspiration from a favorite film of Carpenter’s, as she revealed on Thursday’s episode of The Tonight Show. Carpenter expressed her excitement about the project, stating it might be her favorite video she’s ever done. This is a notable statement, considering her previous work included high-octane scenarios involving boyfriend Barry Keoghan and bank robberies.

In a recent conversation with Variety, Carpenter reflected on her Disney past and her current artistic trajectory. “I’m 900 inappropriate jokes away from being a Disney actor, but people still see me that way,” she said. “I’m always extremely flattered to be grouped in with the other women and girls who I’ve idolized and looked up to who came from that, but I feel very distant from it.”

Short N’ Sweet is now available via Island Records. The album’s third single, “Taste,” follows the release of earlier tracks “Espresso” and “Please Please Please,” the latter of which recently hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
